  4.     Figuring the odds and bidding shrewdly are crucial skills
  5. for such high rollers as billionaire investor Warren Buffett and
  6. Bear Stearns chairman Alan ("Ace") Greenberg. That makes them
  7. all the more formidable at a favorite pastime of theirs: bridge.
  8. After the stock market closes, they bring their talents to
  9. high-powered card games at New York City's exclusive Regency
  10. Club. Their frequent opponents include CBS chairman Laurence
  11. Tisch and centillionaire publisher Malcolm Forbes.

  13.     The bridge-playing tycoons are much in demand for
  14. competitive events. This week the four cigar-chomping bigwigs
  15. and a few well-heeled friends will represent the American
  16. Contract Bridge League in a London play-off against a British
  17. team composed of one baroness, one lord and several other
  18. parliamentarians. "The opposition is in for problems," says
  19. Forbes. But then again, "the House of Lords probably has more
  20. time to practice."
